🍂 Korean BBQ All You Can Eat Korean Buffet: “Mr. Kao”
Hello everyone! It’s such a beautiful, clear autumn day here in Hamburg today. 🍁
My friends and I decided to check out an All You Can Eat Korean Buffet Restaurant called Mr. Kao, so I thought I’d share my experience with you.

If you live in Hamburg or are having to visit Hamburg, you can check this restaurant!
All you can eat Korean Buffet EUR 34,90
They also offer a lunch menu for around 10 euros, which is quite affordable: https://maps.app.goo.gl/u8XxvuV2kUTWLmAT6
Usually, I don’t go to Korean restaurants whose owners or chefs are not Korean, so I didn’t expect too much at first. But surprisingly, the food was good — the menu was varied, and the taste was quite close to what you’d get at an authentic Korean restaurant.
Sure, the price is a bit high, so it might not be worth it if you don’t eat much, but it’s a fun place to go with friends once in a while.

🏠 The Restaurant & Atmosphere
The restaurant is slightly below street level — kind of semi-basement style.
There was even a funny sign saying “공기밥 (bowl of rice)” written in a way that clearly wasn’t by a native Korean 😅

🍗 Side Dishes & Buffet Menu

They had side dishes like fried chicken, japchae (glass noodles), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), kimchi stew, and various types of jeon (Korean pancakes) — and honestly, they weren’t bad at all.
I went there starving on purpose, and the tteokbokki and chicken were especially good. Maybe not the main stars at a Korean BBQ place, but still very satisfying 😂
As for the meat selection, they offered beef, pork belly, and marinated meats.
The flavor wasn’t exactly the same as what you’d find in Korea, but the marinated beef reminded me of Korean galbi and tasted quite nice.
They even had ssamjang (Korean BBQ paste), gochujang, green chili peppers, and sesame oil with salt — all the essentials for wrapping Korean BBQ.
Honestly, I think most foreigners wouldn’t notice that it’s not a “real Korean-run” restaurant. My non-Korean friends were very happy and loved the food! 😋

🥬 Vegetables and Sauces

There were no perilla leaves / sesame leaves(a must-have for Koreans 😅), but the lettuce and other greens were nicely arranged.
They also served kimchi and cucumber kimchi, which tasted surprisingly close to the authentic Korean flavor.
The presentation overall wasn’t bad at all — quite impressive actually!
Just by seeing people grill meat and seafood together, I could tell it wasn’t a traditional Korean place 😂 But who cares — as long as it tastes good, right?
We probably grilled food five or six times in total!

🍰 Dessert & Drinks
They also served ice cream, cake, fruits and so on for dessert.
After two hours, they even offered each table a shot of fruit-flavored soju — maybe they want to say, “Time to go home now?” 😆
Who actually stays at a buffet for two full hours anyway? That’s us!

☕ Coffee time After the Buffet
We finished the evening with a cup of coffee at Copenhagen Coffee Lab, a cozy café in downtown Hamburg.

🌟 Final Thoughts — 4 of 5 Stars
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆
✅ Nice place with friends (especially guys who eat a lot!)
✅ Tasty food that feels “almost Korean”
❌ Probably not where real Koreans would go, but perfect for introducing Korean-style BBQ to non-Korean friends.
The only downside? My clothes and hair smelled strongly of grilled meat afterwards 😂
If you’re in Hamburg and craving a big Korean-style meal, Mr. Kao is definitely worth checking out once!
